I use the seven fundamental elements of photography - line, shape, form, texture, pattern, color, and space - to create stunning compositions that tell stories, evoke emotions, and inspire action.

Lines

Lines are a fundamental element of art and photography that can be used to create different effects and convey different messages. Lines can be straight, curved, solid, dashed, implied, or psychological. They can also be vertical, horizontal, diagonal, or somewhere in-between. The type and orientation of lines in a photograph can influence the mood, composition, depth, and movement of the image.

Shape

Shape is a two-dimensional element of photography; think flat, enclosed area of space. Shapes are constructed with colors and lines, but they have no depth. Shape photography is the two-dimensional appearance of objects as your camera captures them. For example, if you look at an image of a ball, you’ll find its shape as a circle. Shapes can influence the mood, composition, depth, and movement of a photograph.

03

Texture

Texture in photography is the perceived appearance of a surface, which can convey how it feels to touch. Texture can add depth, interest, and realism to an image, as well as guide the viewer’s eye and create patterns. Texture can be influenced by lighting, exposure, depth of field, sharpness, and post-processing

Patterns can create a unifying element, an eye-catching composition, and an emotional response in photographs. They can be found in both natural and man-made subjects, and  can be created by arranging design elements in a regular fashion.

Color

Color is one of the most basic and most important elements of photography. It affects everything from composition and visual appeal, to the viewer’s attention and emotions. Color can be influenced by lighting, exposure, depth of field, sharpness, and post-processing

06

Space

The area within and around the subject of an image. It can be divided into positive space, which is the main subject or focal point, and negative space, which is the background or empty space. Space can be used to create a visual balance, a sense of depth, a feeling of motion, and a narrative for the image

07

Form

The shape is what makes your flat shot look three-dimensional and real. It is common practice to accomplish this by manipulating the light falling on your subject. Different lighting arrangements for portrait photography can dramatically alter the appearance of your subjects. A three-dimensional model of the thing is represented by the shape. Adding depth to the Shape creates shape.
